The hierophant Jupiter meets the god of death Pluto and they have a conversation: 

Jupiter says, “You know, Pluto, nothing is impossible if you believe it to be so.  As I see it, the parts of you so misunderstood and mysterious, give great power to those who do not cling to superstitious ways of thinking.  You can serve the greater cause of truth in powerful ways.” 

Pluto in turn responds, “Jupiter your message carries great power and is respected far and wide.  I am the force of the will, that which makes man what he is and great.  Together we shall create a world magnificent to behold.  As to how Man shall make of it and how he shall end, well that is up to him.  As I rule the forces of time and of death, man may delude himself in his religious grandeurs, but none shall exceed me or escape my final hand.”

And so it goes.  Inasmuch as Jupiter represents God and His wisdom, Pluto represents the crudest, most base form of matter away from Him where time rules and all things come to final entropy or disintegration.  In the psyche of man these forces are equal, and may represent polar manifestations of the entire cosmos. 

In reality though Jupiter holds a more legitimate place in the scheme of things (the astrological rulership system), Pluto is a more intellectual/materialistic contender in the western system.  The ultimate effect I can see of this conjunction today (about an 11-12 year cycle) is as the spirit of Jupiter moves upon the face of the Plutonic creation he draws out the richer parts of the divine nature of consciousness from the labyrinthine caves of the human subconscious and produces a miracle of alchemic transformation. 

On the lower end (for those less evolved, or terminal as the case may be) this could result in the temporary lumination or brilliant self-justification of the intents and actions of the mind that is self-reliant only, a king in its own universe. 

Sometimes the mind of man is not content to be just a star in the sky, it must be the Sun and lord of all.  Read here leaders, politicians, educators, ministers, and corporate figures; he who rules the mind and its perceptions, rules the world.  In the end though they become less than dust.  (Jupiter conjunct Pluto)
