September 2018: What the Earth Giveth, It Taketh Back
by Curtis Burns,

September 2018 Predictions

The summer (in Northern Hemisphere) 2018 has been amazing.  We’re none the worse for the wear.  As a matter of fact, some of that “wear” has given us some pretty nice “wares”, and some of those “wares” have been involved in “wars”…..

Turn the “w” upside down and Wars becomes Mars.

September 2018 Overview:

  • Sept 6, Saturn Direct, Sun quincunx Mars
  • Sept 7 Neptune opposition
  • Sept 10, Mars semisquare Neptune
  • Sept 13, 14, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Neptune
  • Sept 16, Mars perihelion
  • Sept 18, Mars square Uranus
  • Sept 20, Saturn quintile Neptune
  • Sept 22, Mars conjunct South Node
  • Sept 23, Autumnal Equinox
  • Sept 30, Pluto Direct

It has indeed been the summer of Mars, with its tight conjunction with the South Node (Ketu) in sidereal Capricorn, making square to Uranus and Jupiter.  With proximity to the Nodes, eclipses become involved.

Mars Square Uranus

If you read Sun Tzu’s Art of War, the best kind of war is one where you don’t fight at all.  Maneuvers, ploys, and tactics to deceive and confound the enemy are far better.  Maybe the best reason though is that no one wins in war, especially those who are sent into battle.  One gain comes at great cost, and maybe those who lose the least are declared the winners.

Mar is now completing his cycle of astrological activity, completing aspects in a grand pattern that has been active for some months now.  The last leg of this pattern occurs on September 18 and Mars makes one last square to Uranus.

Mars square Uranus is usually associated with “explosive change”.  But I ask, do we need all that boom, bang, and doom?  How about audacious adjustment?  Stout execution?  Intrepidity?

Heroic actuality?

With all that’s gone before; egotistical bluster, force, and manipulations; something new and effective is desired.  A new synthesis is emerging; not new spins on old things

Saturn, Neptune and the Autumnal Equinox

Saturn also makes quintile to Neptune.  Saturn as the highlighter of vulnerability points out Neptune’s delusionary shortcomings.  Not always a fun process, but in order to move forward, the viability (Saturn) of our hopes and dreams (Neptune) must be analyzed.  So, we can expect new humility during September as well.

We get the autumnal equinox on the 23rd, the equal length of night and day, bring us to the harvest of the summer’s labors.  For those in the Southern Hemisphere, you have the Vernal (Spring) Equinox, the emergence of new life after the long winter’s repose.

Pluto Stationary

Then on the 30th, Pluto becomes stationary, slowly resuming forward motion in the sky.  Of course, we don’t see Pluto, you need a very powerful telescope and a keen analysis to observe it, but there’s astrological experiential evidence to know that there’s something there.

As Pluto, the Roman god of the Underworld, known as Hades in Greek times, he ruled the things that come out of the ground: gold, silver, oil, etc.  All the things men covet so much.  Maybe you could call Pluto the planet of coveting, strong desire for any one or many things, perhaps based on the assumption that one does not have enough of those things, or that there is an inherent scarcity to those things in the universe and therefore one has to hoard and clutch onto those things, or be bereft.

But of course, in a universe of absolute abundance, what price can you put on sunlight, air, or water when it is free and always there?  The same applies to any commodity in the universe, there is enough for all to enjoy without worry.  Economists and politicians would tell you though that there is only a limited supply of jobs, money, and therefore opportunity available.  Especially so when they limit the supply and flow of such things through manipulation of interest rates, currencies or the laws governing them.

They fool you to accept a bowl of porridge, while they feast at a banquet.  Such covetousness inevitably produces gross inequality, riches amid vast poverty.  Greed produces envy, anger in its wake. Violence and loss are not far behind.

At the end of this month, perhaps the Earth itself will shift as does Pluto apparently in the sky. What the Earth giveth, it taketh back.

But those are only a few of the possibilities with Pluto stationary, we can also expect political and financial developments, shocks and losses, and then surges in psychological pathology which causes behavioral problems.  Sometimes people just get morbidly intense for a while.  Then others appear totally unaffected.

Day by day

Saturday, Sept 1
Love, beauty and good fortune in general are highlighted as Venus conjuncts the fixed stars Spica and Arcturus, as well as quincunxes Juno.

Sunday, Sept 2
Mercury at Perihelion
Interactions may seem quite intense and peculiar.  Communicative and intellectual work is generally favored.  (Mercury biquintile Pluto, Mercury square Juno)

Monday, Sept 3, Labor Day US
Last Quarter Moon
The Sun on fixed star Zosma in the constellation of Leo is reputed to give muted or degraded results, added to by the semisquare of Jupiter to Saturn.  Progress may seem slow and dissatisfactory, but we can’t let the temporary results, seen only from a short-term perspective, abort our continued efforts towards.

Tuesday, Sept 4
No peaking influences

Wednesday, Sept 5
Mercury conjunct Regulus
Initiative and boldness are indicated, as well as important developments in relationships.  (Mercury quincunx Mars, Sun tridecile Juno)

Thursday, Sept 6
Saturn Stationary Direct
Frustrations flare, but not every problem is solved with a stick, gun, or tank.  (Sun quincunx Mars)

Friday, Sept 7
Neptune at Opposition
Unique insights into life and it’s meaning are potential today, but some egotistical sacrifice may be required.  Opening oneself up to new possibilities may manifesSt astounding developments.  (Sun tridecile Saturn, Mercury trine Saturn and Uranus)

Saturday, Sept 8
Moon at Perigee 1:21 am GMT
Moon conjunct Mercury-Sun
Urgency and anxiety make take relationships through their trials, but discussions and analysis may yield delightful new possibilities.  (Venus square Mars, Mercury sesquaquadrate Pluto, Mercury biquintile Mars)

Sunday, Sept 9
New Moon
As Juno conjuncts Algol, the star that represents Medusa’s severed head in the constellation of Perseus, relationships may move through challenging spaces.  Perhaps compounded by the aspect of Venus to Neptune causing a great contrast between reality and fantasy.  Upholding positive expectations nevertheless may enable happiness and success to ensue in matters.  (Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune, Mercury quintile Jupiter, Sun sesquiquadrate Uranus)

Monday, Sept 10
Discouragement and alienation feelings may challenge the pace of life.  Beware ideological spins that may affect your life. Energy and motivation may be conspicuously absent. (Mars semisquare Neptune, Juno biquintile Saturn)

Tuesday, Sept 11
Good fortune and exciting new ideas can galvanize action in many.  Be careful giving power to ethically questionable people, ideas or situations.  (Sun sextile Jupiter, Sun trine Pluto)

Wednesday, Sept 12
Enthusiasm is strong, albeit sometimes it is a distraction.  Relationships may be able to move onto a smoother course, but excitement can still be strong.  Mercury on fixed star Zosma may have a dampening effect on aforementioned enthusiasm.  (Venus opposite Uranus, Venus sextile Saturn, Juno quintile Neptune, Jupiter sextile Pluto)

Thursday, Sept 13
Troubling realizations can either seem to defeat us, or subtly inspire us to change. Relationships or meetings may present unsustainable possibilities, albeit the Moon conjunct Venus today will bring out the sweetness of everyone.  (Mercury opposite Neptune, Mercury tridecile Saturn)

Friday, Sept 14
Urgency, panic and hysteria are present possibilities, which gives an opportunity for you to learn how not to be swayed by intense, but very short-lived, influences which will otherwise set off a lot of people.  The Moon conjunct Jupiter can have a calming, uplifting effect nevertheless.  (Mercury sesquiquadrate Mars and Uranus, Mercury tridecile Juno)

Saturday, Sept 15
Sun moves into sidereal Virgo
Charisma and powers of suggestion and persuasion are strong.  (Mercury trine Pluto)

Sunday, Sept 16
Mars at Perihelion
First Quarter Moon
Jupiter on fixed star Zubenelgenubi in constellation Libra today may bring falsity or pretension to actions and affectations.  The sextile of Mercury to Jupiter may amplify enthusiasm.  Mercury semisquare Venus brings many connections, but potentially some superficiality also.  Mars closest to the Sun today in its yearly orbit may brings more urgency to the day.

Monday, Sept 17
The Moon conjunct Saturn today brings seriousness and perhaps a tendency towards obsessiveness or compulsiveness of thinking.

Tuesday, Sept 18
Developments come hard and fast; adjust, adapt.  The Moon conjunct Pluto today may deepen the emotional depth and impact. (Mars square Uranus, Sun biquintile Uranus)

Wednesday, Sept 19
Moon conjunct Mars and Ketu (South Node)
Unusual and exciting opportunities seem to captivate the hour.  Powerful ideas are galvanizing us.  (Mars conjunct fixed star Altair, Mars quintile Jupiter, Mercury biquintile Uranus)

Thursday, Sept 20
Moon at Apogee
Mercury Superior Conjunction
Looking in the mirror may be a humbling experience now.  Change occurs as something “dies” within us, making way for something new to replace it.  The Sun comes between the Earth and Mercury, and the Moon is at farthest point from the Earth.  (Saturn quintile Neptune, Venus quintile Pluto)

Friday, Sept 21
Important relationship developments are potential.  Seeking communication and better ways to interact will be very profitable.  (Sun and Mercury trine Juno)

Saturday, Sept 22
Idiosyncrasies and pathologies may be lit up in situations and developments, but out of a strange brew of thoughts and emotions remarkable things may emerge.  People come together precipitously and constructively.  (Mars conjunct South Node, Mercury tridecile Pluto, Mercury quincunx Uranus)

Sunday, Sept 23
Autumnal Equinox 1:54 am GMT
Moon conjunct Neptune
The day and night are of equal length today, and for those on the now-losing-of-daylight end (in the Northern Hemisphere) the thought of it may be particularly unappealing, blame it on Mercury square Saturn. All kinds of emotional and mental pathologies may be activated today, endeavoring to ruin your day.  Don’t let it happen though, catch the gleam of that silver lining to those dark mental clouds; the Sun of spirit shining behind them.  Surprise yourself and the world.  (Sun tridecile Pluto, Mercury trine Mars)

Monday, Sept 24
Break through those cardboard walls of that box which has heretofore confined and limited you.  (Sun quincunx Uranus)

Tuesday, Sept 25
Full Moon
Stuff got you down?  The witty response may be just the cure.  (Sun square Saturn, Mercury semisquare Jupiter)

Wednesday, Sept 26
No peaking influences

Thursday, Sept 27
Moon conjunct Uranus and Sun Trine Mars can bring excitement and new revelations.  Remember it’s less so much what you can say, as opposed to what you can do.

Friday, Sept 28
No peaking influences

Saturday, Sept 29
Pluckiness thinks it can beat every problem, not every time though.  Pluckiness may need a time-out.  (Sun semisquare Jupiter)

Sunday, Sept 30, Pluto Stationary Direct
Old Pluto, god of the underworld; his starry counterpart in the heavens starts moving forward again, dredging up deep, dark stuff from days gone by.  As he turns on his center, things which are about to collapse may do so, clearing the way for new things to replace them.

March 2024: A World without Equinoxes or Solstices

In March we come to the Vernal Equinox, when for about a month night and day are of about equal length, hence the word equinox.  There is one day when they are exactly equal and that is the Vernal Equinox, March 20. It is thereafter that one starts to gain dominance, for the Northern Hemisphere it is the day, while in the Southern it is night.  For the Southern their part of the globe actually moves away from the sun, hence the decreased light.
