Lunar Eclipse February 9, 2008 and Multiple Conjunctions

This week there is so much to talk about astrologically that my mind is reeling at the task, but I let me give it a shot. There is some real "stuff" going on, which may take a while to digest the full implications thereof….

The human mind however is amazing in it capacity to be completely oblivious to the efforts of the universe around it to try pull it up evolution-wise; in fact it may be so wrong about things that they think that the Power that is trying to help is hurting them. People just don’t like intensity, they look at it like a giant demon or dragon out to destroy them.  A dragon though is just another force of nature, another aspect of Creator’s intent; it is terrifying only to those who shy away….

This week there is so much to talk about astrologically that my mind is reeling at the task, but I let me give it a shot.  There will be a lunar eclipse, a Mars/Saturn/Uranus configuration, a powerful Sun/Neptune conjunction, and then a triple conjunction of Mars, Jupiter and the North Node.  This is real "stuff" happening, which may take a while to "digest" all.

People just don’t like intensity, they look at it like a giant demon or dragon out to destroy them.  A dragon though is just another force of nature, another aspect of Creator’s intent; it is terrifying only to those who shy away. 

Personally, I don’t think the Universe destroys things as much as it liberates individuals from situations that have become far too limiting and death-oriented for their own good.  What delivers destruction in the negative sense is our own karma, the universe reflecting back to us what we sent into it; and that is Divine Love itself, for it teaches us the consequences of our actions. It also shows us that whatsoever we do to another person we also do to ourselves, because we are All One. 

Eclipses are when the Sun and Moon (the two "chief" planets in any horoscope) line up with their Nodes (called Rahu and Ketu in Vedic astrology), this causes an very closely aligned new and full moon, where one planet is actually blocked from view for a short time by the other.  Symbolically, this is like a temporary suspension of the normal rules of time and space, and things go awry sometimes during eclipses.  I prefer to think of them as human "software updates", the computer "hangs" temporarily while the system updates; but afterwards (hopefully ) things will be running better. 

The most palpably felt days during this week look to be Wednesday and Thursday, February 11 and 12; Mars will be making minor hard aspects to Saturn and Uranus, reconnecting up the energies of last week’s opposition of Saturn and Uranus.  This could be quite a harsh-seeming two days, the potential for turbulence is high, and emotions may become somewhat frayed.  In extreme cases there could be accidents and injuries, those in war zones and other such danger areas will be at higher risk. 

Mars, Jupiter, and the North Node will be moving into conjunction towards the beginning of next week.  The Nodes of course are not actual planets (called in Vedic astrology shadow planets), and their actual position depends on whether you use the mean or true method of calculation.  I use the true nodes, having found them to be somewhat more accurate; so according to the "true" nodes they will be exactly conjuncted by Jupiter and Mars on Thursday, the 12th and Monday, the 16th

The effects of Jupiter on the Node will be obviously positive, but the conjunction of Mars to the North Node will be rather intense.  Jupiter on the Node implies hopeful, religious, and/or spiritual activities and connections between people; Mars on the Node portends aggressive, intimidating, and severe-at-times actions, and connections between people of a competitive, passionate, and contentious manner.  I should say though that a Jupiter/Node connection could result in great swellings of optimistic and probably unrealistic expectations and feelings, a lot of bold pronouncements could be made as well as foolish actions.

Speaking of dragons, according to the ancient Hindu myths the Nodes, Rahu and Ketu, are asuras (demons/dragons), and are intimately tied up with eclipse phenomena.  So don’t be too surprised at seemingly evil forces or energies unleashed, but recognize that they are uniquely spiritual manifestations which are possibly frightening but ultimately for your benefit.  

All in all, this is the kind of astrology that coincides with significant turns of events on the world scene, or at least a planetary spiritual action, which affects the thoughts and emotional processes of humanity enlarge (which is less measureable, more subjective, but can be noticed by those with subtle perceptual abilities)
