To Thine Own Self Be True
by Curtis Burns,

Concluding  this week and beginning the next there is what I would call a string of malefic connections astrologically, which most certainly have some developmental impact on everybody.

HamletMars brings out our senses of disempowerment, anger, and frustration; at the same time it also compels us to action, putting us in what we might refer to as “hot water.”  It is the alchemy of Mars that it helps change our fears into courage, even if little bit by little bit.  So even if we “fail” at asserting ourselves in different kinds of situations in a balanced way, we are nevertheless learning more and more as to what our capabilities and limitation are.

When Saturn comes into play, we are brought face to face with situations which we find intimidating (not unlike Mars), but which we react to with intense fear and cause us to erect barriers, protections, and deflections for our wounded sense of selfhood or ego.  Saturn brings out our deceits of honor, integrity, and character.  Saturn’s alchemy is to make us own up for our own shortcomings, and to exercise commitment to our highest goals.

In Saturn’s perspective, goals are not to get a good job, earn a good reputation, or to achieve a lot of power.  These are frequently proven hollow, easily lost, and illusory.  To Saturn, a the main goal is “to thine own self be true” to quote Shakespeare:

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man. (Polonius to Laertes, Hamlet Act 1, scene 3, 78–82)

So as Mars and Saturn (as well as other planets) are variously activated on the dates below, you can have a little more insight to the dynamics they bring into play in our lives.

Monday, Mar 18
Affairs may seem to take on a ragged character with issues, problems, and delays interfering with the preferred course of events, including how relationships are going.  Be careful accidents, injuries, and worse.  (Mars biquintile Saturn, Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn)

Tuesday, March 19
No peaking influences

Wednesday, March 20
Opportunities may seem to abound, especially in areas of art, culture, and religion/spirituality.  Relationships may be favored.  Good fortune.  (Venus quintile Jupiter)

Thursday, March 21
No peaking influences

Friday, March 22
An extreme sense of urgency may accompany situations demanding immediate action.  Accidents, injuries, and mishaps in general have a higher probability of occurring today.  Impatience may become acute, inciting conflicts or disruptions.  (Mars conjunct Uranus)

Saturday, March 23
Progress may become arduous.  Overcoming delays or difficulties may seem to take away the fun and excitement of our projects, but this only means that we are at key junctures and to abandon what we are doing now could be terminal to our projected successes.  (Jupiter quincunx Saturn)

Sunday, March 24
The feelings brought out by our encountering problems and difficulties may feel very acute, tempting us to shame, blame, or otherwise deny ourselves the victory of overcoming.  Nevertheless, progress may hit obstacles, and attitudes may be sour.  In other areas, love in relationships will be favored.  (Sun biquintile Saturn, Venus sextile Juno)

Monday, March 25
Experiences and emotions may be a little on the ragged side today, but at the same time we may be directed towards very concentrated and determined work on our emotions and in our efforts.  (Mars quincunx Saturn, Venus biquintile Saturn)

Tuesday, March 26
You may be pushed to extremes of exertion and output, and the tone of the day may be very harsh.  All potentials for misfortune and suffering at exacerbated.  Tact and diplomacy may not be the virtues of the day.  (Mars square Pluto)

March 2024: A World without Equinoxes or Solstices

In March we come to the Vernal Equinox, when for about a month night and day are of about equal length, hence the word equinox.  There is one day when they are exactly equal and that is the Vernal Equinox, March 20. It is thereafter that one starts to gain dominance, for the Northern Hemisphere it is the day, while in the Southern it is night.  For the Southern their part of the globe actually moves away from the sun, hence the decreased light.
