Apr 21 to 28, 2008: Fortune Favors the Bold
by Curtis Burns,

The real peak occurs mid-week on Wednesday, April 23 as Mars perfects its opposition to Jupiter.  Mars has the tendency to cause people to act headstrong and assertively, mostly to compensate for a perceived sense of powerlessness.  Jupiter has a tendency to cause people to act in an arrogant, broad-based way that does not like to dwell on the details of matters, especially so if it would spoil its grandiose plans; and it seems to do so from a standpoint of underlying sense of destitution, poverty, or ignorance.

Together those planetary energies acting on the lower human psyche can cause a triple threat of over-zealous impetuosity, grandiose self-rationalization, over-compensating miracle-promising. We can see also the emergence of more positive, constructive, in intrinsically worthwhile manifestations: an assertiveness that is based on a questing for higher truth, a fighting for justice, and a common-sense understanding to just get things started and break out of the “analysis paralysis” that can plague so many potentially great endeavors…

Fortune Favors the Bold

The real peak occurs midweek on Wednesday, April 23 as Mars perfects its opposition to Jupiter.  If you look at this purely astronomically, this means the Earth (us) is smack dab in the middle of them.  Just one day before (Tues, April 22), Venus will be moving exactly perpendicular to them (forming a “t-square”); this means that relationship situations should be stimulated and push along that little game we call “love”.

Fortune Favors the Bold

Wed, April 23: Venus forming a T-Square with the Mars/Jupiter Opposition

Immediately following on Thursday, April 24, the Sun makes a quintile (72 degrees) to Neptune.  This is a clear mid-level astrological malefic day.  This may be awry, people may act strangely, and some people/situations may be afflicted with a sort of paralysis.  Chronic conditions may flare.  The three day period of April 22, 23, and 24 look to be the most intense and therefore developmental.

This week’s Mars/Jupiter opposition will be further accentuated in a few weeks as transiting Jupiter itself turns retrograde on Friday, May 9.  Saturn turns direct on Saturday, May 3.  If the other shoe is going to drop anytime soon as far as war, economic developments (crashes), or natural disasters; these would be prime dates.  What occurs this week under the Mars/Jupiter opposite may be integral to what could occur later in May.

Neptune will also be turning retrograde on Monday, May 26.  This date is somewhat down the road and things may have “cooled” somewhat from the previous weeks astrology; but that would be another key date (and likely not a nice one) for world developments.

Deeper on Mars and Jupiter

Very entertaining for sure, if not a little sad because a lot of world leaders and presidential candidates right now seem embody those qualities.

It should be noted that Jupiter right now is moving very slowly, getting set to go retrograde on May 9.  This can have the effect of amplifying the Jupiterean theme of this configuration: glossing over details, accentuating the ideological flavor, and and upping the entire hubris of the matter.

Nevertheless, these are very “hot” planets acting off each other, and the pace of events may accelerate for a while.  In the mix of these influences though we can see also the emergence of more positive, constructive, in intrinsically worthwhile manifestations: an assertiveness that is based on a questing for higher truth, a fighting for justice, and a common-sense understanding to just get things started and break out of the “analysis paralysis” that can plague so many potentially great endeavors.

Some people, as their belief in themselves is strong enough and they have the daring to proceed briskly enough, can produce any number of actual miracles under this type of astrology; Jupiter lends the magical divine power, while Mars supplies the almost reckless audacity to run with it.  If ever there was a planetary combination that would contextually explain the saying “fortune favors the bold”, Mars and Jupiter have it.

DAY BY DAY DETAIL:

Mon, Apr 21
At times there could be moments of hysteria or impulsive conclusion-jumping, the depth of emotional ranges in relationships could be intensified, but also a calm sort of dispassion should rule.  Early on work and organization activities are favored. (Mercury quintile Mars, Venus tridecile Pluto, Sun trine Saturn)

Tue, Apr 22
There could be a tendency to jump to wild conclusions and/or to take offense just as impulsively.  The urge to reform, to take down idols, or clear the deck in order to start again may temporarily skew judgment with an urgent sort of militancy.  Discussion and persuasion may be favored, as is the tendency to exaggerate or err on the side of optimism. (Mars trine Uranus, Mercury tridecile Jupiter)

Wed, Apr 23
Strongly amorous, adventurous, and/or licentious day may be at hand. Be careful of making boasts, proclamations, or advances based on an eclipsing passion that all too quickly fades away.  (Venus square Mars and Jupiter)

Thur, Apr 24
A swelling passion and over-riding impetus to enact change, tear down idols, or to take the world by storm should be peaking.  Beware of audacity that knows no bounds, or a sort of arrogance that masquerades as progressivism.  If you ignore the “little people who get in the way”, you are no better than those you purport to crusade against.  At some point today there could also be an undue pessimistic trend towards thought that can have an inhibiting effect, but should also help to achieve realism of perspective.  (Mars opposite Jupiter, Mercury tridecile Saturn)

Fri, Apr 25
What is true and what is true about your self may be at issue today.  Tendencies toward deceitful or self-destructive actions may be energized.  Be careful of deceivers and being self-deceived. Physical vitality may be at low ebb; allergies, sensitivities and chronic conditions may flare. Early morning US time, there could be an influence that produces depth of thought, compulsive/obsessive tendencies may come out.  The power of love may take on beguiling proportions.  Beware of sudden breaks. (Sun quintile Neptune, Mercury sesquiquadrate Pluto, Venus sextile Neptune, Sun semisquare Uranus)

Sat, Apr 26
No peaking influences.

Sun, Apr 27
Be careful of a tendency to fool your self, to believe that something is real because you simply believe it so strongly.  Be sure not to let hopes eclipse objectivity, an all too common tendency.  (Mercury sextile Neptune)

Mon, Apr 28
Beware of the tendency to act deceitfully against others, acting from questionable or poorly formed agendas, or letting psychological quirks give you loopholes to avoid definitive accomplishments.  Sometimes we don’t find the motivation to do necessary things simply because we just don’t want to do them; we prefer to hold on to delusions that perpetuate co-dependent behaviors. In other areas the ability to persuade, discuss, and learn will be enhanced, as will the tendency to exaggerate/boast. (Mars quincunx Neptune, Mercury trine Jupiter)

March 2024: A World without Equinoxes or Solstices

In March we come to the Vernal Equinox, when for about a month night and day are of about equal length, hence the word equinox.  There is one day when they are exactly equal and that is the Vernal Equinox, March 20. It is thereafter that one starts to gain dominance, for the Northern Hemisphere it is the day, while in the Southern it is night.  For the Southern their part of the globe actually moves away from the sun, hence the decreased light.
