Mars Conjunct and Parallel Uranus, April 15 & 16, 2009: Unsatisfied and Unconstrained

The most significant astrological event this week is the conjunction of Mars and Uranus,  and then their forming a parallel to each other the next day; April 15 and 16 respectively.   Then on Friday, April 17, Venus makes a station and turns direct.

Mars is always a planet that you can’t ignore.  Mars desires and acts; and there is nary a separation of the two.  To Mars (and Mars-ruled people) to desire is to move on those desires: act, fulfill, consummate.  Of course without Mars, humanity might not have been emboldened enough to venture out of the cave. Uranus is like a higher octave of Mars, making the “selfish” goals of Mars multiplicitous, social, and broadly evolutionary.

Both planets are rather unsatisfied by nature and not ones to be constrained; therefore their combination this week could be unsettling and possibly contentious in their effects on us….

Mars Conjunct and Parallel Uranus, April 15 & 16: Unsatisfied and Unconstrained

The most significant astrological event this week is the conjunction of Mars and Uranus longtitudinally,  and then their conjunction on the equatorial plane the very next day (called a parallel of declination); Wednesday and Thursday, April 15 and 16 respectively.   Then on Friday, April 17, Venus makes a station and turns direct.

Mars is always a planet that you can’t ignore, it makes people antsy and sensitizes emotions of hysteria, zeal, passion, and motivation.  Mars desires and acts; and there is nary a separation of the two.  To Mars (and Mars-ruled people) to desire is to move on those desires: act, fulfill, consummate.  They are a heady, reckless, and impulsive crowd; and when their sense of powerlessness is touched off, watch out.  Add to this category anyone with Aries or Scorpio prominent, or having Mars strongly positioned in their chart.

Of course without the population-sector that is highly influenced by Mars, humanity might not have been emboldened enough to venture out of the cave, as it were.  They might have been content just to contemplate the vague certainties of life in a box that you can’t get out of.  Mars cannot sit still, it must press outward, expand, and dare to embody something bigger and greater than it was before.  revolution.jpg

Uranus as a higher evolutionary agent wants to bring everything together, to provide a group context to the picture; because we are not just lone agents on the world scene, there are others like us, different but similar in many ways.  Uranus is like a higher octave of Mars, making the “selfish” goals of Mars multiplicitous, social, and broadly evolutionary.  Uranus also is concerned with the freedom implicit in everyone being able to exercise their innate proclivities.

Both planets are rather unsatisfied by nature and not ones to be constrained; therefore their combination this week could be unsettling and possibly contentious in their effects on us and in the unfolding of events.  In extreme cases their aspects result in upsurges of defiant, revolutionary, or openly disruptive behavior; sometimes even explosive and catastrophic.  More likely the feeling of dissatisfaction and discontent will swell to levels that bring us to start to make changes.  That initial first step to bring about change is the hardest, starting from zero momentum; it is like tapping into that original urge that caused the universe to expand from a point of near nothingness to present day cosmic expanse.

Mars and Uranus therefore would be very contemptuous of human habit patterns, “ruts”, and the “tyranny” of any kind of stricture over the fundamental prerogative to do our own thing.  So don’t be too surprised over sudden breaks and radical reforms coming about in our lives.  There may even be a few “tea parties” going on.

Looking deeper at this configuration, a few things have to be borne in mind.  First the conjunction/parallel takes place at a very early region of the sign (1-2 degrees Pisces) which is considered ineffective, and the dispositor of Mars and Uranus (Jupiter, ruler of Pisces) is itself very debilitated by sign and degree position itself (very late in Capricorn).  Typically, I’ve seen configurations of this type to manifest in overcompensating or deficient manners; basically coming out in pathological ways.

Mars conjunct and Parallel UranusThe extreme events such as accidents, injuries, or catastrophes may occur: upsurges in war, outcroppings of violence under the guise of revolution, and just emotional discontent causing a lot of stress and strife during the week.

It should noted also that Jupiter as the dispositor of the conjunction of Mars and Uranus is itself disposed by a debilitated planet: Saturn (retrograde and in the sign of it’s debilitated); this has the effect of only deepening the potential negativity of this entire configuration.

Remember that I am using Vedic style astrology zodiac positions, which may differ from what you might have read in some other website or magazine.  The planets and aspects are identical to the western style, the difference in the zodiac positions gives differences in interpretation.  Sidereal constellations by and large can be seen to resonate more on the earthy plane, whereas tropical positions seem to speak more to subjective states of energy, that of emotions and human thinking.

The second event of note will be dazzling Venus in our morning skies going stationary on Friday, April 17, and going back into direct motion.  The planet appears to stand still for a time and its effects intensify on the order of ten times for a couple days.  This means significant relationship developments for all, and certainly enhanced cordiality for the later part of this week.

Venus of course is not really stopping still in its orbit, but it puts on the appearance of it, and symbolically it resonates for us in our affairs.  If you’ll recall the Hermetic axiom: as above, so below.  We can use the heavens above us as a great reflecting mirror to better understand ourselves and the turns in our lives.  Maybe if more people were able to look on the world around us (and the greater universe beyond) as such an interconnected, organic whole maybe there would be less worry and confusion and more reverential awe.

DAY BY DAY:

Sun, April 12
Issues surrounding communications and intellectual matters may cause problems.  (Mercury square Nodes)

Mon, April 13
Early on a sense of hysteria or alarm could be brought about, later confusion over details and a tendency to let issues become distorted or overly-colored by our biases could pose problems.  (Mercury semisquare Mars, quintile Neptune)

Tues, April 14
No peaking influences.

Wed, April 15
Events of a significant nature may manifest themselves with surprise and disruptive impact.  A sense of extreme hysteria may temporarily eclipse the normal sense of perspective, which may be underscored by events of an equally extreme nature.  Be careful of accidents, injuries, or conflicts.  More positively, the energy to make a clean break from the limiting conditions of the past will be more accessible.  If you can keep you head, you may have an exciting and interesting day leading you to new life-developments.  Other influences today may be interfering with the normal course of energy and vitality  causing illness, etc.; tendencies to act in a deceitful manner will be highlighted as well.  (Mars in Pisces conjunct Uranus, Sun in Aries sextile Neptune)

Thurs, April 16
No peaking influences.

Friday, April 17
This should be a day for cordiality and the appreciation of love, beauty and spirituality.  Relationship developments are possible, and a calm sense of perspective will help create realistic expectations in our affairs today.  (Venus stationary direct in Pisces, Mercury in Aries trine Saturn in Leo)

Sat, April 18
No peaking influences

Sun, April 19
Deep penetration of the mind is possible, obsessions and compulsions in thought, word, and deed may be activated.  The power to persuade is will be magnified.  (Mercury in Aries sesquiquadrate Pluto)

Mon, April 20
Obstacles and delays may dog our actions, calling up the need for greater diligence and perseverance.  Anxiety patterns may be activated in the psyche possibly causing deceitful behaviors.  (Sun in Aries sesquiquadrate Saturn in Leo retrograde)

March 2024: A World without Equinoxes or Solstices

In March we come to the Vernal Equinox, when for about a month night and day are of about equal length, hence the word equinox.  There is one day when they are exactly equal and that is the Vernal Equinox, March 20. It is thereafter that one starts to gain dominance, for the Northern Hemisphere it is the day, while in the Southern it is night.  For the Southern their part of the globe actually moves away from the sun, hence the decreased light.
