It is all in how you take, accept, and run with whatever the Universe throws your way. Whatever the name it is a living, breathing, conscious thing that has an infinite and compassionate knowledge of every part of the constituent “micro-entities” within it. So all things conspire in a sublime and beautiful way that exceeds our capacity to understand to ennoble, exalt and ultimately divinitize us.
Holding onto what once was, or parts of us that once gave us joy and pleasure are the very things which the Universe is striving to liberate us from. They are no longer relevant, useful, or helpful to us and the infinite compassion of said Universe is drawing us away from them, taking us to a new a better place. A more natural state of felicity awaits us, and sometimes we have to still ourselves to see and accept it, and it grows more substantiality as we continue in our perpetual meditative/prayerful posture….
This could be a pivotal week indeed, especially so over Wednesday and Thursday, July 9 and 10; there is quite a lining-up of malefics. Thursday, the 10th is decidedly the most “mal” of the malefic configurations occurring with Mars making its conjunction with Saturn, which happens every year and a half or so.
What makes an astrological event “bad” is not the nature of it, but its force and impact determined by the harmonic nature of its aspect; it comes at us in such a way as to shake up and animate heretofore suppressed behavioral patterns in our psyches. Therefore many times “hard” aspects bring about trouble, but also just as many times decisive change and successful overcoming.
There are certain aspects (planetary configurations in a birthchart) in astrology that are “good” but they are usually weak and seem to be of a supportive nature more than anything. Then there are “bad” aspects, which many times create anxiety and force action on the part of individuals, and they have a definite risk in that that can cause a compounding of the anxieties that they were intended to liberate us from.
Whatever You Call It
It is all in how you take, accept, and run with whatever the Universe throws your way. I am loathe to call it “God” right here (but I do from time to time), as it is a term that has a lot of baggage in the West, so I call it here the Universe. But still it is a living, breathing, conscious thing that has an infinite and compassionate knowledge of every part of the constituent “micro-entities” within it. So all things conspire in a sublime and beautiful way that exceeds our capacity to understand to ennoble, exalt and ultimately divinitize us, especially that most sublime part of us that resides in our higher centers: our selfhood.
Mars represents the force of desire as that which incites action. Saturn brings about discipline through testing the ultimate viability of every thought, feeling and action in our affairs. Whatever does not work Saturn brings to our attention and urgently so with a certain amount of pain, anxiety, or other undesirable consequence attached to it.
Mars may have the effect of creating dissatisfaction; Saturn can have the effect of creating a strong inducement to take dissatisfaction to real change. I often find myself describing the energy of Saturn as a fire that burns, quite painful in its effect but having the effect of firing pottery in the kiln, giving it strength and durability. As Jane Fonda used to say in her exercise videos in the 80’s, “feel the burn”, “No pain, no gain.”
Resistance and Denial
I know a lot of people who seem to complain a lot, how they are going through so much difficulty, almost like they wish it weren’t happening; but I know it is the force which Saturn represents burning out their impurities. Part of the Saturnian process then is to realize and accept that the pain is there and to realize that it can’t (or shouldn’t) be willed away, and try to stop the process of resisting the force that is surging through you. The force of the pain I know does peak and subside according to the lesser cycles that run our world, but it does pass quickly and peace does return along with a sense of being altered by it.
Holding onto what once was, or parts of us that once gave us joy and pleasure is the very thing though the Universe is striving to liberate us from, they are no longer relevant, useful, or helpful to us and the infinite compassion of said Universe is drawing us away from it, taking us to a new a better place. A more natural state of felicity awaits us, and sometimes we have to still ourselves to see and accept it, and it grows more substantiality as we continue in our perpetual meditative/prayerful posture.
Soon enough, driven by Saturn’s inevitable power, we are completely new and different beings; far different from our old friends, relatives, and associates who may choose to stay behind in more familiar, comfortable, and predictable frames of being. This is not so much something we can control, start, or stop; it picks us, and we don’t pick it.
When you come across someone going through the throes of misfortune: illness, injury, or, loss; the homeless person eating out of a garbage can, the wheelchair-bound person struggling to get on in the world, or even the person beset by madness, unable to control the demons unleashed in their head; you might say to yourself: “Hmmm, that person is being singled out by Fate; who am I to live such a comfortable, ordinary life, full of such seeming good fortune. I am not nearly as blessed as they are.”
This week a unique combination of “good” and “bad” aspects peak over Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday Jupiter will be fully illuminated by the Sun (opposing it), putting the Earth in the exact middle, and leaving Jupiter at its highest and brightest in the sky during the night. It should have a positive, ennobling, and uplifting effect, which hopefully will help to mitigate some of the worst parts potentially of the Mars/Saturn conjunct the very next day (Thursday).
Nevertheless the middle part of this week may be characterized by frustration, and for some more extreme emotions may come out coinciding with events of a harsh nature in their life. As the financial markets these days seem to be reacting more wildly than usual, due no doubt to an unconscious understanding that something big is around the corner and not very fun at that; but they may gyrate significantly those days.
As hurricane Bertha is now gathering strength in the Atlantic as of this writing, this could coincide with some sort of precipitous landfall of the storm, or a peaking of emotions in its wake. The US government (White House) may feel the need to act tough and appear decisive to the world again, making all sorts of threats or moves to validate their righteous cause. (That may come off as a little opinionated on my part; but I have to say that a lot of posturing that leaders do sometimes is so transparently sophomoric.)
No doubt the stress levels of your daily life will rise, as with an accompanying sense of hysteria that causes people to react in such unbecoming ways; but your determination to overcome difficulties will swell as well; and in the end you may be grateful for things going the way that they did.
