January 11, 2008 Mercury Retrograde, Jan 8 Mars Tridecile Saturn
by Curtis Burns,

Mercury Retrograde, Mars Tridecile SaturnRelatively quiet week astrologically with the exception of Saturday January 11, 2008 Mercury retrograde; and Thursday, Jan 8 with a few challenging Saturn aspects, which might feel like that new pothole in the road which are so loved here in Minnesota in the winter.

Nothing feels quite like a sudden axel-wrenching, tire-eating, jagged little “dip” in the road, which heretofore has been pretty smooth; probably the equivalent of an extra 10,000 miles of wear on your vehicle.

But every pothole though was because of a weakness in the asphalt, which sooner or later would give in.  A system is only as good as its weakest point, so it is life’s prerogative to point out to us our weak spots before they really mess up our plans.  So for every little pothole that jars your entire frame, I guess just be glad that you’re not going off the cliff! Although pothole formation is a random occurrence, for those with karma in their outlook random things just do not occur.

On Saturday, Jan 11, Mercury stops still in the sky and takes a little backwards detour: going back, going over old ground, a little more ruminative, contemplative, and subjective; and very prone to error.  I think they are overrated phenomena except on the day that they happen.  Traditionally you’re not supposed to sign important documents during this time (about three weeks) or start new ventures, for they will be “cursed” but in our enlightened and fast-paced modern age you can’t just stop making business deals.  The deals that you make during this time could require just a little more due diligence though.  There is a more measurable negative effect though when Mercury is afflicted by Neptune and that won’t be happening this week.

March 2024: A World without Equinoxes or Solstices

In March we come to the Vernal Equinox, when for about a month night and day are of about equal length, hence the word equinox.  There is one day when they are exactly equal and that is the Vernal Equinox, March 20. It is thereafter that one starts to gain dominance, for the Northern Hemisphere it is the day, while in the Southern it is night.  For the Southern their part of the globe actually moves away from the sun, hence the decreased light.
