February 2018: An Angry Eclipse
by Curtis Burns,

Feb 15, 2018 Lunar Eclipse Sidereal

On February 15 there will be a solar eclipse in sidereal Aquarius with five planets in Aquarius, disposed by Saturn in Sagittarius.  While the background influence of the disposing planet will be philosophical or ideological, it seems to be an angry sort of eclipse.

I say angry because the Sun is debilitated in Aquarius and then it receives a Vedic fourth-house aspect from Mars in Scorpio.  An afflicted Sun as such can give rise to an underlying sense of powerlessness, which can trigger a sort of over-compensating forcefulness or aggression, which the aspect from Mars could aggravate.

I am encouraged, however, of the presence of Mercury, Venus and Neptune into the five-planet grouping, which can help soften and smooth out any egoistic ruffles.  The tight influence of Mercury already in superior conjunction (see image below) to the Sun and Moon indicates a powerful ideation and perceptual enhancement to the astrological equation.

inferior conjunction

Superior Conjunction: the Sun comes in between two planets.

This is, of course, a sidereal-Vedic interpretation of the Feb 15, eclipse. However, it will be Aquarius in both zodiacs this time, so there can be at least some common ground between the styles of interpretation.

Thursday, Feb 1
Get out and do something different, yet something closer to the real you. Don’t play a role, be yourself. (Sun quintile Uranus)

Friday, Feb 2
Relationships may learn from the consequences of actions. Arrogance can cause distance in relationships. (Mercury quintile Jupiter, Venus semisquare Saturn)

Saturday, Feb 3
Important meetings and developments. People are not to be used, and situations are not simply to exploit. There may be some moments of wild excitement. (Sun conjunct South Node, Mars semisquare Pluto, Mercury sextile Mars)

Sunday, Feb 4
Too much of a good thing becomes not so much of a good thing anymore. (Venus square Jupiter)

Monday, Feb 5
No peaking influences

Tuesday, Feb 6
Exciting and new types of connections help you to get out of your heretofore confining mindsets. (Venus sextile Uranus)

Wednesday, Feb 7, Last Quarter Moon 8:51 pm GMT
No peaking influences

Thursday, Feb 8
Excited, heated, or agitated thoughts and emotions may make getting things done a little harder. Determination and concentration may help you to accomplish amazing things. (Sun quintile Mars, Mercury quintile Uranus)

Friday, Feb 9
Thwarted intensions may give frustration, but may also serve to unleash your genius in problem solving. (Sun semisquare Saturn, Mercury conjunct South Node)

Saturday, Feb 10
Boldness may help you get out of a bind, but don’t let false confidence be a way of life. (Sun square Jupiter)

Sunday, Feb 11, Moon at Apogee 2:46 pm GMT
The Sun enters the sidereal sign of its debilitation, Aquarius. For the next month focus, acting with authenticity, and honorability may seem a little harder. The Moon is farthest from earth, coming up to a solar eclipse in a few days, a restructuring/reworking energetically may be taking place causing things to seemingly go awry, but actually something new is about to emerge in the next few days or weeks.

Monday, Feb 12
Tension and stresses. From a calm center though, the excitement may allow new and amazing developments to occur. Sometimes solving a problem is as simple as admitting that it is a problem and letting it go, not needing an immediate solution. By and by your mind may yield an effective solution in time. (Mars sesquiquadrate Uranus, Mercury semisquare Saturn)

Tuesday, Feb 13
Glib and showy phrases and appeals will not always work for persuasion. Keep facts in line with the overall message. Get ready for some amazing new discoveries. (Mercury square Jupiter, Sun sextile Uranus)

Wednesday, Feb 14, Valentine’s Day
A potentially amazing Valentine’s Day with deep emotional resonances and incisive, bold assertions. Sometimes every offer will not turn out well. Many agendas are attached to the deals. (Venus semisquare Pluto, Mercury quintile Mars)

Thursday, Feb 15, Solar Eclipse 8:51 pm GMT (New Moon)
Solar energy seems to decline for a portion of the day, giving rise to potentially strange and unusual occurrences. When one door closes, another opens. Things seeming to sort themselves out relationship-wise, brings the possibilities for new developments in life. (Venus sextile Saturn, Mercury sextile Uranus)

Friday, Feb 16
No peaking influences

Saturday, Feb 17, Mercury at Superior Conjunction
Significant day as the Sun falls exactly between the Earth and Mercury; and then Jupiter enters for a short time sidereal Scorpio. Powerful action of the mind can bring about new life-developments. However, the square of Mars to Neptune is going to cloud up the waters, confusing motivations, mixing truth with error, not making the day easy, but perhaps for those bold and determined enough, amazing things can happen.

Sunday, Feb 18
No peaking influences

Monday, Feb 19
Relationships, social and creative/artistic situations are stimulated. You may encounter some beautiful people. (Venus tridecile Jupiter, Venus semisquare Uranus)

Tuesday, Feb 20
Fascination may lead to obsessions. Be careful of agendas attached to being right in a discussion or debate. (Mercury semisquare Pluto)

Wednesday, Feb 21
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, transform your universe. (Venus conjunct Neptune, Mercury sextile Saturn)

Thursday, Feb 22
No peaking influences

Friday, Feb 23, First Quarter Moon
Power pushed to the limit may yield some amazing results, yet strive to be considerate and conscientious on how you make things happen. (Sun semisquare Pluto, Mercury tridecile Jupiter, Mercury semisquare Uranus)

Saturday, Feb 24
No peaking influences

Sunday, Feb 25
Amazing opportunities to transcend emotional and relationship stumbling stones from the past. A realistic view can help open new personal vistas. (Mercury conjunct Neptune, Venus square Mars, Sun sextile Saturn)

Monday, Feb 26
Earnestness and determination can help resolve heretofore sticky relationship issues. Apply yourself to your passions. (Venus quintile Saturn)

Tuesday, Feb 27, Moon at Perigee 2:48 pm GMT
Emotional resonance can be very strong, almost derailing your previous plans. Don’t get off-track by what ultimately turn out to be misleading and illegitimate situations. Moon closest to the Earth today, possibly adding to the richness and/or intensity of life. (Venus sextile Pluto)

Wednesday, Feb 28
Urgency and mental distress may spur the determination to find resolution than just simply reacting with the fight of flight mechanism. (Mercury square Mars, Mercury quintile Saturn, Mercury sextile Pluto)

March 2024: A World without Equinoxes or Solstices

In March we come to the Vernal Equinox, when for about a month night and day are of about equal length, hence the word equinox.  There is one day when they are exactly equal and that is the Vernal Equinox, March 20. It is thereafter that one starts to gain dominance, for the Northern Hemisphere it is the day, while in the Southern it is night.  For the Southern their part of the globe actually moves away from the sun, hence the decreased light.
